Yes, ANOTHER JCrew tee copy

I know, I do these a lot.  This time I'm copying the Cascade Ruffle Tee.
This was my inspiration.  Looks pretty easy to copy, right?  I used a long-sleeved tee from Old Navy that already had the right neckline.
I cut off the sleeves as usual and cut them into strips.  I ruffled them and looked at the inspiration photo to place them where I wanted them... I used a disappearing ink pen.  Whoo, those are fun!
So, here's how it turned out!
 Ta-da!  I love the asymmetry.

  1. Love it! You have quite the talent. :)

  2. Hahahaha, oh my gosh, I was just working on copying this tee this morning. Like, while you posted this! That's amusing.

  3. I have to say this one is one of my favorites! I'm definately going to have to give it a shot!

  4. very nice! looks like the real deal :)

Question: if you machine sew this, what type of needle do you use?

  5. I really love this one. It's so simple but so perfect. And you totally can't tell the difference between yours and the original! (actually, i like your sleeve hems better!)

  6. Great job! I actually snagged this from J.Crew for $13 so I didn't attempt to make it. But yours turned out GREAT.

  7. no way! i did this yesterday!! great minds think alike!

  8. Oh wow! That is cool. I can't wait to try it.

  9. WOW It really turned out great! Luv it

  10. Love it - very inspiring. Thanks!

  11. This is awesome! Thanks for sharing!

  12. Thanks, everyone!
I used a regular small-ish needle, but I imagine there are special ball-point ones or something for knits. I think you'd be fine with a 10 or something.
If any of you do try it, I'd love to see pics!

  13. Seriously?!! That turned out AWESOME!! I love it! I need to make me some of those for the summer!

  14. Okay I'm visiting your blog after you left a comment on mine and this is the 1st and only post I've read so far and I think we'll be instant friends! Just 3 days ago I made this! scary.:) yours turned out fantastic, it looks JUST like it. I'm becoming a follower. :)

  15. So Beautiful! I have a pile of t shirts and knit fabric calling my name, but I am too chicken to do it. I need to take the plunge!

  16. I have to say this one is one of my favorites! I'm definately going to have to give it a shot!
