A sweetheart skirt

Inspired by the paper bag skirt and easy paper bag skirts I recently made, I wanted to do another skirt (they are so easy compared to dresses!) with fullness at the hips, tapered down to the knees.  I pulled out Simplicity 2512, a Cynthia Rowley pattern I've had for a while.
Cute, right?  I made a variation on the skirts at the top, A and B, but I didn't want the bias tape finish on the top and hem.  I didn't have a perfect contrast fabric, and wanted a smooth finish, so I sewed the pieces right sides together (next time if I do this I will add 1/2" seam allowance to the top of the waistband when I cut), and finished the raw edges on the inside of the waistband.  Check it out!
Here it is with a bow...
And with a simple knot.
It's fun how the belt is attached at the center back, which keeps it in place nicely.
I made the skirt out of a nice piece of cotton twill that I got at Goodwill for probably $0.99.  I wouldn't have wanted to use anything any more lightweight, for a skirt and all.  It lays pretty well, too.  It's similar to the twill I used on the easy paper bag skirt, also.  Twill is a best friend for summer-fall bottomweights!
