Classic Christmas decor around the house
Classic Christmas Around Our Tudor Revival Home
Welcome to our cozy holiday house tour! I've been doing traditional reds and greens the past few years but this year decided there is nothing wrong with the basic Hallmark color palette... it's not overdone, it's classic! So you'll see some needlepoint, plaid, brass, and lots of greenery—layered over my existing "new traditional" decor. Come on in and see the living room, dining room, kitchen, bedrooms, and even the new guest room all decked out.
Entry & Living Room Welcome
The living room features the tree and mantel so is automatically Christmassy, but this year it also has a puzzle table! One of the things Micah brought with him. We've done a couple already! So cozy and relaxing.
New this year: needlepoint stockings on the main mantel. I love their vintage-y texture with our wood tones.
Tree & Mantel
Our tree is from Balsam Hill and it’s such a pretty, full shape—easy to style with ribbons and the kids’ favorite ornaments. This is our new velvet Nutcracker tree skirt from Rifle Paper Co.
I kept the mantel classic with greenery, a felt garland, and those needlepoint stockings. This is also our first year with our matching blue velvet sofas, and I think they look great! Post about my sofa orders here.
Evening Glow
At night the living room feels extra magical. The lights create pretty shadows and it’s all cozy and calm.
Dining Room
In the dining room I kept it simple: greenery, candles, and some vintage Christmas village vibes and snowglobe I thrifted earlier this year. It feels festive without competing with the view into the living room.
The darling Nutcracker advent calendar hasn’t found a permanent spot yet, but it’s working here for now.
Several new pieces in the dining room since last Christmas, I think... latest room updates including rug and cabinet here.
Kitchen Cheer
The kitchen got a few playful touches: a garland over the shelves, a gingerbread house, and the Christmas mugs that make my occasional tea or decaf coffee feel extra cheerful. This mug is my favorite this year!
Bedrooms & Traditions
Upstairs I decided last-minute to add some Christmassy touches in our bedroom—more garland and red velvet ribbon, for starters!
Even added some stockings upstairs this year...Micah’s family tradition was opening stockings in his parents’ room by the fireplace, so we’re trying something similar. The older, larger knit stockings (this and this) are perfect for the ones that get filled.
Basement Guest Room
Even the new guest room I've been working on got a touch of holiday—more greenery, a little ribbon, and winter bedding (like this amazing cotton sherpa-lined quilt) so it feels welcoming for family visits.
Thanks for stopping by our holiday home tour! Wishing you a peaceful, joyful season of puzzles, gingerbread houses, and classic decor vibes!
