How to Wear DIY: The long striped maxi skirt to work

I've been really enjoying the corporate culture at my new job, and appreciate how lots of people put some extra style into their work clothes--compared to where I worked before, where things were pretty boring and I didn't really express myself through clothes.

Especially since it's summer, I see lots of cute dresses and skirts on ladies around the office, including great bright colors and prints and things I recognize from this season at Target or Old Navy. ;) So not too fancy, but fun! And people look very pulled-together.

We also have casual Fridays. Didn't have those at my old job. I loooooove that I get to wear jeans once a week now! It almost makes it feel like the weekend. ;)

But, it's summer, so it's not really jeans weather out, and people are seriously wearing gladiators and pastel dresses and Bermuda shorts all the time, so I really haven't felt like wearing jeans on casual Fridays. But I don't feel quite right wearing some of my cute summery dresses, either. I mean, some people look like they're dressed for an outdoor wedding half the time, but... that's not me.

So to keep the daytime, more classic look but still relax on Fridays, I've been wearing my jean jacket and a skirt. I've literally worn this thing the past three Fridays, I think. So last week, I wore it with the black and white striped maxi skirt I made last year, and a minty-aqua J. Crew tee I just picked up at Goodwill. I love when throwing in a new color makes things feel more exciting!

I also wore a massive top bun, which I guess made it preppier and less totally casual, and lent itself to the blackberry picking we did Friday night after dinner in our neighborhood. You can see those bad boys in the background--there are SO many of them by that fence!
Jacket: Nordstrom Rack (similar). Tee: J.Crew via Goodwill. Watch: Ross?
Sandals: Ross or DSW. Skirt: DIY, here!

What are your tips for summer casual Fridays? What can I wear next week so I don't wear out the jean jacket's welcome too much?? ;)

  1. Adorable! I always subbed regular denim jeans for colored jeans or capris and a cute blouse with flats on casual friday's. How about the cute plaid maxi-dress you made with a different jacket overtop...that would be fun too!

  3. Cute outfit! I've been out of the corporate world for a while, so everyday is casual Friday for me ;) I usually wear capris and a summery blouse or a nice top and casual skirt when I meet with clients.

  5. You simply flip fifteen as soon as, so a
lovely prom dress or robe that tends to make you the middle of consideration
will be the most proper a single. Regardless of what colour dress you should
put on, you may come across an attractive a single for the specific working day
at most prom dress shops. From sweet fifteen dresses to Quinceanera damas
dresses, Paige understands the cultural importance and fundamental style
guiding a Quinceanera. That is why she enjoys quinceanera dress a lot.http://www.wegodress.com/taffeta-strapless-aline-beaded-long-prom-dress-pd-3120.html
