My wonderful friend and her family have been through more than I can imagine the past several years and have recently moved into what was her grandparents’ home. She’s doing an amazing job creating a beautiful, comfortable home for her family but I wanted to help with her daughter’s room. This sweet and very spunky five-year-old girl has been through months of the most intensive chemo, radiation, and two bone marrow transplants and is now healthy and vibrant. 

I love the room we were able to create for her, and you have to see the "before"!

First the before... the house is from the 50's but I think someone did a big reno in the 70's and added shag carpeting and some of the lighting. My friend's grandparents lived here for decades but before my friend moved in we discovered there were hardwoods under these floors... she sanded and refinished them herself!!

They moved in and started setting up the room but we had to add a few extra touches to make it feel done.

I knew the perfect source for curtains for her room: Three Girls Curtains has so many pretty florals and patterned fabric options for their curtains, and we were able to customize the size and header style, etc. Corner windows like this are often funky to dress, and you typically don’t want to cover any of the window with the curtains are open, but it was unavoidable here… But I think it turned out great! On the windows we have the Lily Vine Floral curtain and then we also tied in the pink with an adorable gingham curtain also (the Scottish Gingham curtain from Three Girls) on the closet. 

I also just love using a classic bulletin board in a kid's room. I have this same one in both my kids' rooms and they love having family photos and art projects up there. I had one when I was a teenager and filled it with all kinds of sentimental things. The classic cork board is timeless!

We found these cute solid wood nightstands in a great narrow size from StoSense. They have USB plugs and came fully assembled, huge plus!!

My friend’s home is full of vintage pieces and family heirlooms and this room is no different, like this painted box that was her grandma's and this wool rug that was in her grandma's attic bedroom when she was a little girl in Idaho. 

I love how we mixed girly touches, vintage, and clean, fresh modern sensibility in here. It is perfect that this is the first room in the house to be finished, this little girl deserves her own space that’s ready for her so much!
