Unique bridal shower: DIY floral arranging class at home!

I am getting married in less than a month and getting into all the fun stuff! I hosted my bachelorette brunch/bridal shower (not really a shower since I threw it for myself, and said no gifts :P) with a floral-inspired lunch and then the most absolutely lovely activity for everyone… DIY floral arranging with kits that came with everything we need!

There is a new company called Petal Icon, a division of Flower Moxie (they do DIY wedding flowers, which I’ll be sharing all about soon!) that offers complete DIY fresh flower kits with everything you need for office parties, girls’ nights, bridal showers, and more. So fun, so easy, and so beautiful!

I chose the Garden Party set for 12 ladies and Petal Icon shipped my bulk fresh flowers to me a few days before. The instructions for receiving are easy… trim 2” off the ends and put them in water still in the plastic for an hour or so to help them keep their shape, then sort them into vases/buckets by type. They also sent 12 vases, 12 floral foam blocks, 12 pairs of clippers, and plenty of floral tape and wire.

My bathtub looked the best it’s ever looked for a few days.

We had lunch outside and set up some tables for the flowers there, but it was about 90 degrees and in full sun at noon so we pivoted before doing the flowers and came inside to the air conditioning.

Petal Icon sent me a video with instructions for the Garden Party kit and we all watched (at 2x speed!) before getting started.

Then we went to work… and had so much fun!

It is so cool to see how different everyone’s interpretations are. The video explains some important principles, like starting with greenery first, so we all had a baseline, but some people went tall, some short, some did more spray out the sides, etc.

Everyone said how luxurious it felt to have so many buckets of flowers to choose from. Way better than trying to find everything you need at the grocery store flower section. And everyone got to take their arrangement home, which made the best party favor.

We felt so relaxed and proud holding our creations!

I am so grateful to have had these 11 women supporting me the past several years (or more), with all the hard changes in my life and growth I’ve done. I’m so happy I could bring them together and celebrate with all of them in such a special and memorable way!

Stay tuned for a full post on how I’m using Flower Moxie for DIY wedding flowers and wedding centerpieces for the big day itself!
