Rocking chair resolution: the one we chose for Otto's nursery, and progress

A couple months ago I posted a round-up of 14 cute rocking chairs that aren't crazy expensive. I had been researching them for months but we didn't have a place for one in our apartment, so I finally just bought one recently. The verdict: we love it!! Nicest chair we've owned in a long time, and so cute in the nursery! (Which is coming along, progress pics below!)

Check out that post to see the ones I found and considered. I ended up going with my #1 pick from last fall... the DaVinci Piper glider in cream.

It came with a small bolster pillow but I was trying out different accents while I had the rug.

We have had a hard time finding and agreeing on a rug for this space. I wanted a mature, muted vintage oriental look one, but Jason wants something baby/kid-ish like outer space or alphabet print. I found this rug and thought he would like the bright color, and I like the flat weave (rather than polypropylene shiny fluff), but unfortunately I think it's too small for the room and is going back! So back to the drawing board.

We also need to work out the window covering situation, need something with more blackout, and man, those black outlets are really bugging me now. I also need to re-hem those curtains if I keep them in there but add blackout blinds. But really, we need to find a rug first, and then choose the curtains after that. More work to do in this room for sure!

There is also a fun art opportunity above the fireplace (which we are blocking with the dresser, because... function over form right now). This room is only temporarily Otto's room, since we will probably move him upstairs to a nicer room once he's sleeping through the night and can safely navigate stairs. Till then we want to sleep on the same floor as him so he's down here.

I also think I need to find a cute ottoman--but again, rug first. The chair reclines, swivels, and rocks, so I can definitely recline even now. It's so comfy!
