Wedding decor: milk glass vases

I'm getting married in less than a year, so I'm thinking lots about wedding decor.  I think I'm going for a sort of "rustic," sort of " homespun" thing, but not too rustic or farm-ey.  I'll make an inspiration board one of these days once I get my concept together!

One thing I did decide on was I think I want to go with the vintage milk glass vases for table centerpieces.  Like, three or so of assorted sizes and shapes on each table.  I think Martha came up with this idea originally, a while ago, but it's been in many beautiful weddings since.  Here are some examples:

Chanel
Style Me Pretty
Martha Stewart Weddings (I think those are actually IKEA vases!)
My Sweet and Saucy
Looks like milk glass vases actually lend themselves to quite a few different wedding looks!

I've started picking them up at Goodwill for less than $1 each.  Have you seen any great weddings with the pretty-vintage-rustic look?  I love the way you can mix antique things with new and make a wedding look beautiful without huge costs!

My wedding was in my backyard and I used mason jars with ribbon bows filled with sweet peas and snapdragons. I love the milk glass idea. It is going to be beautiful. I am looking forward to reading about what other ideas you will be using.

  4. What a lovely idea. We're also collecting ideas for my daughter's wedding. May-be I should start a scrapbook of sorts!

  5. I had milk glass center pieces at my wedding and I just loved how they looked! We got all the pieces for about a dollar a piece. We did 2 vases and a candy dish at every table. We had a fall wedding and filled the candy dishes with fall colored candy like the orange and brown mini reese peanut butter cups and fresh fall flowers in the vases. So elegant and pretty!

  8. i had milk glass vases at my wedding just about a month ago! (in fact, i still have some if you are interested in buying some in bulk! haha) i LOVE LOVE LOVE the way it turned out. i had a light aqua, cherry red, and yellow wedding at a children's museum. i wanted a "homespun/vintage/kid at heart" wedding feel with milk glass, blue mason jars and lots of vintage items from when we were younger. to top it off, we got married in a children's museum! i wish i could relive it over and over again!
