Slipper chair slipcovers!

Today I made the slipcovers for the fab slipper chairs I got at the Goodwill Outlet for $5 each.  I love these chairs but they were covered in sort of shabby baby-yellow scratchy plush, and I could have lived with it but Jason liked them less than I did.  I got some coral home dec velour-type fabric for half off the clearance price of $6/yard a while ago, a color that coordinates very well with the dining room Waverly chairs.  I also have a Krylon satin finish spray paint in this color.  I was intimidated to do the slipcovers for these slipper chairs, and it's not like you can just go out and buy a pattern!  But I measured, traced, held up to, and tried on the slipcover pieces as I sewed and still have some fabric left over.  There are now two great, comfy, stylin' slipper chairs in my living room:

And check out this super similar chair for $599 from Crate and Barrel:

Pretty cool that these chairs are back in style!

  1. Kudos to you! Slipcovers are tough. I had my own slipcover saga this past fall, when I made slipcovers for two dining chairs out of silk. If you want, you can check it out here. Love your blog!
