Honeymoon prep

It's go time.  We leave for the honeymoon early Monday morning.  This weekend we're packing and making sure we have everything we need!

Here's example of some faves for the trip...

Anyone with travel or packing tips for Hawaii, speak now!!  Neither of us has ever been before and we are SO excited, but a little unsure of what to expect!

  1. I went to Oahu about 6 years ago and loved it. I thought it'd be cheesy, and to be honest, it kinda was... but in a really great way. Clothing-wise it's a nice mix of casual and beachy dress up. There is some kitchy influence, some surfer influence, and a lot of Asian influence, making for a great mix. I liked the old Honolulu Chinatown and right near there, I scored some great vintage at a Salvation Army. Have fun! Honestly, you could get by with a bathing suit and a sundress, so don't stress out about packing :)

  2. Im so excited for you! Hawaii is so fun and relaxed that you'll never want to leave! You could just take what you have in the picture and be fine! It has been raining in the evenings for the last couple of days but it stays in the 70's :) warm rain is still kinda fun! Id buy a pair of locals slippers as to not mess up any leather slippers and if they get stolen at the beach its no biggie! Enjoy your trip and take lots of pictures! Aloha!

  3. We've been to Maui twice and the first trip we had to buy a few things once we got there that we could have gotten a lot cheaper back home (or already owned), but it depends on what you're doing. We did go see the sunrise at the top of the island and it was COLD and windy, so we had to go buy sweatshirts ahead of time. Check the temps if you're looking into doing anything like that. I think I wore jeans, a tank, a tee, a fleece, and a thick sweater and was still freezing! I could have used a hat and gloves too. We also ended up doing a lot of hiking and needed shoes, I'm not sure what you'd call them, but the kind that of sandals that still cover your feet, like Tevas, so you can walk through creeks and stuff like that. And I have to say, if you don't hike in Hawaii, you're missing some of the most amazing parts of the islands. I'm not normally a very outdoorsy girl and it's my favorite thing to do there because it's so beautiful and so worth it! We also used the "Maui Revealed" book and it was great. Have a great honeymoon!

Make sure you rub in that sunscreen even though the directions say to just spray it on evenly. It left me with a splotchy burn when I didn't rub it in...and I was being super careful!

Try to make a stop in a local thrift store if you can. We snagged two Reyn Spooner shirts for my hubby that he wore to death.
