They all looked lovely and they were not pressured to have to get their hair done at the salon if they didn't want to. I find if you go with all having the same hair there is always one girl who's hair looks far better than the others...banclothinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18346705403696187772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5757733747822094075.post-62139272422004666862011-07-10T21:56:55.294-07:002011-07-10T21:56:55.294-07:00I think the bridesmaids definitely need some heigh...I think the bridesmaids definitely need some height to their hair. A little backcombing to make a bouffant would be AMAZING! You seem like such a lover of vintage, I really would like you to have them. A couple are silk, one is a geisha-type, a couple are designer samples (the shop I bought them from used to get these and occasionally I could afford one). They're all 8/10, although in the 60s that was smaller than today. My e-mail is cldsian@gmail.com. I'll play around with it soon and see what all works... and my bridesmaids all have different hair anyway, so it will be great if they all have different styles that they like. Although I would love if they all had vintage-ey looks!

@Sharyn, I would LOVE to see your pics in the Flickr group!!

@jadestar, yes, I will happily ship to the UK. The cost depends on the item but it won't be too much more. Let me know and I will post that item with the UK shipping option.Adventures in Dressmakinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00276208940528297433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5757733747822094075.post-71525145244313617082011-07-08T17:15:59.608-07:002011-07-08T17:15:59.608-07:00I love the birdcage veil idea! Although, I do wedding hair and make-up and I would have to suggest up-do styles, or even half up as a down style can look very untidy very quickly. And also, there's nothing to ruin photos than hands pulling hair off faces or strands across the eyes :)

I love the second style, personally, even for bridesmaids as it allows for beautiful embellishment.Amber Elaynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05942523468304286877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5757733747822094075.post-54355973628463292602011-07-08T11:08:15.428-07:002011-07-08T11:08:15.428-07:00Hi, I got married 2 weeks ago and made my dress, l...Hi, I got married 2 weeks ago and made my dress, lace bolero and a birdcage veil. I really enjoyed the experience and it meant I got exactly what I wanted. I used a vintage 1930's evening gown pattern as the basis for the dress although I did alter it slightly. I used the tutorial on this website as the basis for making the veil: http://madebymaryann.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
It worked pretty well actually. I added some lace from the bolero, a silk flower and some feathers and I was so pleased with the result. I needed a friend to help with adding the decorations to ensure they sat right, something you can't check yourself when the veil is sitting on your own head. I wore my hair up, but it's an individual choice.
I will try to post some pics on your flickr group at some stage.
Happy sewing :-)Sharynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09076578216517231268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5757733747822094075.post-55382317141189018452011-07-08T10:23:35.566-07:002011-07-08T10:23:35.566-07:00Have just been having a look at your etsy shop. I've always preferred half-up/down myself, but then there's always the chance that it could go limp, explode with humidity, get tangled....Up-dos keep hair out of the way.
They'll want to look and feel their best, but they'll want to look and feel like themselves, also. Since you've let them select their own style of dress, that's a pretty good indicator that you realize this! Odds are, even if you give them carte blanche to do what they what, they'll decide on a common effect among them.
I've been the opposite of Maggie: a short-haired bridesmaid among a posse of long-haired 'maids. The bride asked if I would grow my hair to "match" her other 'maids. My answer: no ma'am.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5757733747822094075.post-26346178098459422572011-07-08T07:42:59.527-07:002011-07-08T07:42:59.527-07:00I've been a bridesmaid a few times, and the ti...I've been a bridesmaid a few times, and the time it was the most fun was when we picked out our own dresses and did our hair however we wanted. Since you're allowing the styles of your bridesmaids to show through in the uniqueness of their dresses, hair shouldn't be a big deal.
Though, having been a long-haired bridesmaid who stupidly wore her hair down, I've got to plug updos. You stay cooler that way.
It's why I chopped my hair off short.
The Christina Hendricks look you posted is probably my favorite.Maggiehttp://www.bymaggie.comnoreply@blogger.com
